The Castrated Woman: What Your Doctor Won't Tell You About Hysterectomy
Published in Hardcover by Franklin Watts, Incorporated (May, 1986)
Authors: Naomi Miller Stokes and Naomi Miller
Average review score:

This book saved my sanity
I had a Hysterectomy when I was 24 years old. Life for my entire family became a living nightmare. No one told me what to expect. I was suffering from post-hysterectomy syndrome for seven years and didn't know it. When my therapist handed me this book I was immediately intrigued. I too had considered myself "castrated". After reading the first five pages, my life was forever changed. It was as if everything suddenly made sense. I don't know if Mrs. Stokes is still with us, but I would like to tell her Thank You. You are an amazing genius. Thank You Thank You Thank You. Any woman who is having second thoughts, or Uterine/Ovarian problems, with the scare of Hysterectomy hanging over their head MUST read this book. You will be able to make an informed decision.

Wonderful to read aloud to kids!
We had four Elizabeth Miller CAT AND DOG books when my daughter Caitlin was growing up (she's now 21). But *this* one was my favorite, and I can still quote whole passages from memory. A true gem!

Catholicism at the Millennium: The Church of Tradition in Transition
Published in Hardcover by Rockhurst University Press (May, 2001)
Authors: Gerald L. Miller and Wilburn T. Stancil
Average review score:

Catholocism at the millenium makes the angels sing!
While this book is not for the faint of heart or mind, the broad range of perspectives offered captures in an extremely well-written way what is happening within the Catholic Church today and what will likely be happening in the near future. "Catholicsm at the Millenium" is written about Catholocism it captures, I believe, the essence of the movements and trends in established religions in general. If your faith and your church are important to you or if you are curious about some of the ways the Catholic Church is changing this book is a must read.

A Complete Guide for Caregiving
Dr. Miller and Dr. Bachrach have written a wonderful book. Dr. Miller was actually my daugther's ortho doctor until he took time off to help write this book. Dr. Bachrach is currently treating my daughter. I love the fact that they have made this book easy to understand and that it answers questions that you might never think to ask while you are in the clinic with your child.

Chapters from My Autobiography (Oxford Mark Twain)
Published in Hardcover by Oxford University Press (December, 1996)
Authors: Mark Twain, Shelley Fisher Fishkin, and Arthur Miller
Average review score:

An American Humorist writes about Americans
Mark Twain is the quintesential American curmudgeon. His style formed an era and no one could ever reproduce him although many have tried. Read the book and meet the Man. I laughed out loud and at times was gripped with the wringing unrelenting pathos of this great master. I had to laugh at myself a time or two...

Children's Literature for All God's Children
Published in Paperback by Westminster John Knox Press (February, 1986)
Authors: Virginia Coffin Thomas and Betty Davis Miller
Average review score:

The Role of Children's Literature in Christian Education
I first read this book in 1990 after it was assigned for a course on ministry with children I took in a graduate school for Christian Education. After 12 years I am still actively using it. The strength of the book is that it makes a convincing argument concerning the necessary of using children's literature in the Christian nurture of children. If you want children to learn to read and love the Bible, you need to use more than the Bible. This book convinced me of that. It demonstrates in practical ways how to use children's literature in connection with the Bible to give children a fuller understanding of the world God has made. Children's literature becomes a bridge linking the world of the Bible and the world of adults with the world of children. In addition to arguing its point and making excellent suggestions on how to use children's literature in the Christian education of children, the book also includes an annotated booklist of the best children's literature, the age groups for which it is written and a summary of the stories and themes you will find in each of the books. I highly recommend this book for parents, teachers, pastors and directors of Christian Education.

Excellent medical guide for kids of all ages
This book is a lifesaver, complete with flowcharts of possible problems, descriptions of illnesses, what to do for your child and when to call the doctor. Most helpful of all are the many pictures of what rashes, etc. actually look like. I heartily recommend this for anyone with children.

I loved this combination of an old-fashioned romance and modern feminist adventure story, especially the way the heroine was trasformed in the process.
